What should you do if you or someone you know is raped?

Youth rape – a concealed phenomenon

By Grete Kvalheim (2005)

It’s important not to keep all those negative thoughts to yourself! Find someone you trust completely, someone who you can talk to about what’s happened. If someone you know has been subject to youth rape, you could be a valuable resource and help her with the practical side of things, and listen to what she has to say without judging her.

Places where you can seek help:

  • Outpatients’ clinic/rape clinic
  • The police
  • DIXI Resource Centre for rape victims
  • Incest Centre SMI
  • Crisis centre
  • Health visitor for upper secondary schools
  • A teacher
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Someone else you can trust

REMEMBER:
No means NO!
Show one another respect!
Both boys and girls are responsible for making sure sexual assaults don’t happen!
Don’t drink yourself stupid – alcohol hits you harder than you think!
